Aberdeen is top of the league table again in March, for the second month running, underlining its position as the current favourite for UK property buyers moving into this booming city. According to The Scotsman, house prices in Aberdeen rose 10.3% in the first quarter of this year.
Jersey (2), the largest of the Channel Islands, moves up from position twelve in February and position twenty-nine last December. There are of course special restrictions that apply to outsiders wishing to buy property in Jersey, so the property market is limited mainly to those people who are born on the island. For further information about Jersey residency conditions, see the
Troys Property website.
Belfast (7) is up from position ten in February, which is in line with frequent reports about soaring property prices in the capital of Northern Ireland. Years of pent-up demand, coupled with huge recent investment in the infrastructure, have combined to make Belfast an increasingly attractive place for home buyers. Located on the eastern coast, Belfast and its metropolitan area has a population of over half a million people, making it the second largest city in all Ireland after Dublin.
Out of the top fifty favourite property locations, twenty five are either seaside or coastal towns.
Note for Editors about the Moving Location Index and UK Property Shop
The UK Property Shop Moving Location Index is based on data from a sample of people looking to buy a property and using the website to
register their property search requirements with estate agents in each town. From this data a score is calculated according to the number who
are considering either moving within the town where they live, or away from their home town and into another town. The Moving
Location Index is not a measure of quality, simply an indication of the relative proportion of home buyers wishing to move into or out of a
town, which is influenced by many factors.
The UK Property Shop website www.ukpropertyshop.co.uk was launched in 1999 and is a popular source of information for people looking to buy,
sell, rent or let residential property in the UK. It also publishes the National Directory of Estate Agents, the most complete and up to date
register of all UK estate agents and letting agents.
