Swansea sails up
Source: http://www.ukpropertyshop.co.uk
Aberdeen and Brighton again feature at the top of the league table, but have been joined by Lincoln (up from No.4 in June) and now Swansea, making its first appearance in the Top Ten. The nation's favourite locations for home hunters continue to reflect the attraction of water, with 18 of the top 50 most sought after places being either coastal or seaside resorts.

Swansea in south Wales boasts some of the best beaches in the UK and is also a gateway to the spectacular Mumbles and Gower coastline, one of the region's most popular tourist attractions.

In recent years Swansea has benefited from substantial inward investment and has established itself as a modern and attractive city in which to live, work and visit. Swansea Docks used to be one of the largest in the world, but has now largely been redeveloped and renamed the Maritime Quarter, with hi-tech businesses and upmarket residential units, as well as a thriving yacht marina and hotel. It is also home to the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea Museum and the Dylan Thomas Centre.

It is easy to see why so many people are looking to buy a home in Swansea, with some 39 offices of estate agents in and around the city.

Note for Editors about the Moving Location Index and UK Property Shop

The UK Property Shop Moving Location Index is based on data from a sample of people looking to buy a property and using the website to register their property search requirements with estate agents in each town. From this data a score is calculated according to the number who are considering either moving within the town where they live, or away from their home town and into another town. The Moving Location Index is not a measure of quality, simply an indication of the relative proportion of home buyers wishing to move into or out of a town, which is influenced by many factors.

The UK Property Shop website www.ukpropertyshop.co.uk was launched in 1999 and is a popular source of information for people looking to buy, sell, rent or let residential property in the UK. It also publishes the National Directory of Estate Agents, the most complete and up to date register of all UK estate agents and letting agents.
