According to the British Property Federation (BPF), the Government stands no chance of meeting affordable housing need if provision continues at the current rate, as Government figures show that less than 50% of the affordable houses identified as needed are actually being built each year.
The BPF has published its 2006 housing manifesto "Letting in the Future", which sets out what policy makers must do to harness the interest of pension funds and other large commercial property organisations in investing in the nation's housing and making up the shortfall.
