December record mortgage lending

Mortgage lending in December 2005 is reported to have reached a record level of over £26bn, 25% higher than the same month in the previous year, and the Council of Mortgage Lenders says that total mortgage lending for 2005 was over £287bn, which is only 1% below the record £291bn in 2004.
