Tesco's new property finding service, aimed at enticing home sellers away from traditional estate agents, actually lists properties for sale that are being offered through the same estate agents they are competing with.
In an open letter to all estate agents, Mark Moscrop of Moscrops Estate Agents in Birkenhead, says that while he respects the free market, he is concerned about the way in which Tesco has proceeded to do this, because their website has been populated with properties provided by Fish4Homes.
Apparently properties being advertised by estate agents through the local press can be automatically uploaded to the Fish4Homes site, giving rise to the bizarre scenario where agents are actually helping to kick-start Tesco's competitive business.
Mark Moscrop commented: "I for one certainly had no intention of our properties appearing on Tesco's site. I have been in contact with Fish4homes, who state that they have now terminated their contract with Tesco, but are subject to a 90 day cancellation period. They have stated however that should agents contact them directly requesting them to remove their properties from Tesco, then they will do so."
