NAEA comment on BBC One Estate Agent Whistleblower programme
Source: http://www.naea.co.uk
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) Chief Executive, Peter Bolton King, comments on the BBC1 Whistleblower programme broadcast on Tuesday 21 March at 9pm. The programme is said to highlight malpractice in estate agency.

"The NAEA has been campaigning for better regulation of estate agents for some time now, but the Government refuses to address this issue. The NAEA would like all estate agents to meet minimum competency standards and to belong to an approved body. The NAEA can meet both of these needs.

"Providing compensation for consumers who have suffered at the hands of bad practice is also extremely important. From 3 April the NAEA will begin to ensure that all members who are principals, partners and directors of estate agencies are a member of the Ombudsman scheme for estate agents. This is a positive step forward in providing independent redress for consumers. However the Ombudsman, like the NAEA, is a voluntary organisation and only mandatory schemes will fully eliminate the rogue element."
