Number of UK estate agents increases to over 17,800

According to latest statistics from UK Property Shop, publishers of the online National Directory of Estate Agents, the total number of offices of UK estate agents and letting agents now exceeds 17,800. There are over 14,700 offices providing estate agency services with property for sale, 10,000 offices providing letting agency services with property to rent and around 1,100 offices offering student accommodation.

Around 7,000 offices offer combined estate agency and letting agency services, while nearly 8,000 offices are dedicated estate agents who only deal with property sales and just over 3,000 offices are solely letting agents who deal with rentals only. In addition, there are some 30 offices who specialise exclusively with student accommodation for rent.

Out of the total of 17,800 offices of estate agents and letting agents, around 17,600 of these now have website addresses linked from the National Directory of Estate Agents and over 17,100 can be contacted by email through the free Enquiry Service.
